Paul Merson is a well known soccer star in England and joins Pompey on a 2 year contract. Paul started his career with Arsenal as a apprentice. He spent 12 years at Arsenal making a amazing 289 appearances in the league and scored 38 goals. Paul joined Brentford onloan in 1987 making 6 appearances and scoring 1 goal. Paul then later moved to Riverside with Middlesbrough and spent 4 years with the Tyneside club making 48 appearances in the league. He joined the Boro in a £4.5 million deal. After some amazing games and goals for the Boro Merse moved to the Midlands with Aston Villa in a £6.75 million deal. Paul made 101 appearances for the Viilla Park Club and then moved down South to Portsmouth FC. Paul Merson signed for Pompey on a Free Transfer and will stay at Pompey for 2 years after signing a 2 year contract. Paul Merson is 6 ft in height so he will be able to get onto all those crosses from Midfield. He is a attacking midfielder (I think) and will bring a sense of amazment to Pompey and hopefully he will help us get into the Premiership! Please help Merse!
